Question: We have a 9-month-old son who has never slept well and we are now at breaking point.  My partner and myself do not instinctively feel that the ‘cry it out’ method is the right thing to do and probably follow attachment theory more.  My son started life with a very difficult 35 hour labour, breach and induced, only to be whipped out with an emergency c-section. He then had "colic" for 3 months, screaming all evening but generally sleeping well after midnight. Once he grew out of the colic he started waking up frequently at night, sometimes up to 15 times and often awake for 2 hour periods through the night.

Question: Hi, I would like to know if forcing a child under 2 years old to stay with some one that they don't like or see too often is good for the child or not? Thanks, Keisha

Question: My son is 2yrs and 9 months old and is reluctant to go to nursery. He started 10 days ago and is still crying continuously.  He only attends for one hour a day for the first 2 weeks but he is still very intimidated and cries non-stop. We are trying to counsel him at home but whenever we talk of school either he tries to ignore us or bluntly refuses go to school. Can you let us know whether this is a regular phenomenon among children and what should we do?

Question: Sometimes my mother lies to get away from me.  We are a fairly wealthy family, yet they both seem to have to spend every waking minute at their jobs. And when they are not at work they are either in separate rooms asking not to be disturbed, or blowing up at each other. I am alone at home doing work of my own from 7 am until 9 pm, and I am only 14. I know most kids should like that but to me it feels like I have no family in the world and the family I do have does anything they can to get away from me. The only words I hear from them are ‘did you do your chores today?’ I cry myself to sleep almost every night. I need help please?  Lexi
