Primary School Age Parenting Group

The course runs for six consecutive weeks run by Ryan Lowe the syllabus for which is below. After the initial six weeks the group will continue to meet monthly as a peer support group. The cost of the initial six weeks is £300 per participant with a £100 discount for the second parent if both parents attend.   • Week One Explores: Looking at the world through the eyes of a primary school child. Thinking about the cognitive levels that they are functioning at and how they understand the world around them.
  • Week Two Explores: Containment - looking at Wilfred Bion and his understanding of how to contain and process the feelings of young babies. Attachment - exploring the work of John Bowlby and his understanding of attachment in babies and young children.
  • Week Three Explores: The two BIG topics; Education and Communication
  • Week Four Explores: Common difficulties in toddlers and why this may be. Such as; boundaries, separating, rows with siblings, stroppy behaviour, peer problems.
  • Week Five Explores: Looking at parent's own parenting and how and why this might affect the parenting of their own children.
  • Week Six Explores: Thinking about any specific areas which have been requested by parents. Beginning the process of building the group to continue to run as a support group.
